A specialized type of modal rayon that is prized for its incredible softness, excellent moisture-wicking profile and resistance to shrinkage. The primary constituent of micromodal is cellulose from hardwood trees. This cellulose is extracted and subjected to a complex chemical process, which transforms it into a yarn that can be woven into fabric.

And if you were after the detail

Exctraction of the cellulose

Birch or oak trees are chipped immersed in a chemical solution strip the cellulose from the other parts of the wood.

This cellulose is then flattened into large, white sheets while discarding the non-cellulose portions of the wood.

First immersion into caustic soda

Next, the cellulose sheets are immersed in caustic soda for a significiant period of time.

Breaking into crumbs

Once they have steeped for the appropriate period of time, the cellulose sheets are broken into crumbs.

They are then steeped in carbon disulfide, which transforms cellulose into sodium cellulose xanthate.

Second immersion into caustic soda

The sodium cellulose xanthate is then immersed in caustic soda again, which results in a syrupy solution.

This solution is then forced through a spinneret, which is a device that has many tiny holes.

Lastly, the resulting fibers are soaked in sulfuric acid, streched, and made into yarn.

Micromodal advantages

Enhanced breathability

Micromodal fibers support body temperature regulating properties through their moisture management. Derived from natural material, the microscopic fibrils of cellulosic fibers are structured to regulate the absorption and release of moisture, contributing to more breathable fabrics that support the body's natural thermal regulation.

Color retention

Color pigments embedded in dope-dyed fiber retain long-lasting color vibrancy more than conventionally dyed fiber, and are less prone to fade even after repeated washing.

Moisture management

The Smooth fiber surface of fiber absorbs moisture more efficiently than cotton.

This supports the body's natural thermal regulating mechanism, keeping your skin feeling pleasantly cool and dry throughout the day and night.

Botanic origin

Micro modal fibers are derived from sustainable wood sources, harvested from certified and controlled sources using a closed loop production process.

Long lasting softness

Exhibiting high flexibility, Modal wood-based fibers offer textiles a long-lasting quality of exquisite softness. Due to the fiber's sleek cross section, Modal fibers enhance the soft touch of fabrics even after repeated washing.

Unfavorable for bacterial growth

Micromodal podcasts anti-bacterial property because of its moisture management capabilities.
